Introducing Art and Ayurveda

Some collaborations take months of planning. Ours started with a conversation at a Pavilion Knightsbridge event last October, the kind where you sit next to someone by chance and the conversation simply does not stop.

That person was Maria Gautam, an Ayurveda and Functional Nutrition practitioner whose approach to wellbeing is rooted in biochemistry as much as ancient text. Maria is currently pursuing a PhD in Genetics & Nutrition, alongside her ongoing study of Ayurvedic principles from the Charaka Samhita and Ashtanga Hridayam. It is a rare combination: scientific rigour paired with a genuine devotion to a 6,000-year-old healing tradition.

We stayed in touch, and in May, Maria joined one of my candle-making workshops for Pavilion Knightsbridge club members. Watching her in that space, curious and fully present, the idea for a joint workshop began to take shape.

A unique experience

The Idea

Two very different disciplines, sitting naturally side by side.

Maria opens the session with the wisdom of Ayurveda, guiding participants through a short self-assessment to reveal their dominant Dosha, the framework Ayurveda uses to understand an individual's constitution and tendencies. I then take over with something I have spent months developing: resincrete, an eco-stone casting material that pours like liquid and cures into something solid and lasting.

Each participant pours their own resincrete anchor in the colour tied to their Dosha, a small, permanent object for their home or office and a physical reminder of what they have just learned about themselves.

Art & Ayurveda: Recalibrate and Rebalance

Our pilot event takes place on Saturday 22nd August, 15:00 to 16:45, at Battersea Power Station. It is 1 hour 45 minutes of Dosha discovery, guided casting and aromatherapy, designed for anyone ready to slow down and reconnect, no prior experience with art or Ayurveda required.
