☀️ Help! My Candle Melted in the Mail
A hot take on what happens when London hits 30°C and your soy wax gives up
This week in London, the weather did that rare and terrifying thing: it got hot. Like, emails-stopped-loading, keyboard-stuck-to-your-forearm, why-is-my-chocolate-now-a-smoothie kind of hot.
And if you are a candle lover (or, ahem, a wax-based business like yours truly), you probably discovered a cruel truth: soy candles + summer heat = meltdown. Literally.
🕯 So… why do soy candles melt during shipping?
Soy wax is natural, sustainable, and beautiful, but also a bit of a diva. Its melting point is lower than paraffin, usually around 49–54°C. That means:
If your delivery van turns into a mobile oven…
If your parcel sits in direct sun on a doorstep…
Or if your courier decides to store your lovingly packed candle in the Sahara (aka the warehouse floor)...
That wax will wiggle, droop and maybe even sweat.

Trust us, we feel your pain. Melted candles aren’t useless, but they lose their shape, charm, and , in some cases, their will to live.
Good news? If the wick is still intact, you can re-melt and repour it. Bad news? It shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Switching to heat-resistant containers (bye, delicate moulds, for now)
Using faster, trackable shipping to reduce idle time in hot vans
Adding clear “DO NOT MELT ME” labels on the box (sassy but serious)

💼 So what can you do?
Track your shipment like it’s a promotion email from HR
Don’t let parcels sunbathe. Bring them inside ASAP
Store your candle in a cool, dark place (preferably far from your overheating laptop)
And if it does arrive melty? Take a deep breath, pop it in the fridge and let it firm up before lighting
