What Do Soy Candles Smell Like?
Hint: Not like soy sauce.
When people hear soy candles, some can’t help but raise an eyebrow. Do they smell like tofu? Soy milk? A stir fry?
Thankfully, no.
In their natural state, soy wax candles have a very light, clean scent, something you might describe as a soft, creamy blank canvas. And that is exactly what makes them magical!
Soy wax is famously great at holding and releasing fragrance. Whether it is Cash Flow & Jasmine Glow, Annual Lilac Review, Brewtally Honest or that mysterious one we call Out of Office Mood, soy wax gently cradles the scent and then releases it slowly and consistently as the candle burns.
Unlike paraffin wax, which can sometimes compete with or distort added fragrances, soy wax simply lets the scent take the stage. It is the quiet co-worker that makes everyone else look good.

Before they are poured into one of our bespoke containers (hello, paulownia wood 👋), soy candles start their life as something quite unexpected: soft white flakes.
They look a bit like shaved coconut or snowy confetti.
Once melted, they undergo a beautiful transformation, turning into a smooth, golden liquid that looks like warm honey. It is one of our favourite moments in the pouring process.
And once cured for at least 7 days as already elaborated in yesterday’s post (yes, even candles need a break after a long day of change), they are ready to do their job: scenting your space and restoring your sanity.
So What Do They Actually Smell Like?
That is entirely up to you.
From relaxing Performance Berryview to Polish the Apple or custom scents for accountants (yes, we have really done a candle that smells like Debits, Credits and Coconut Bliss), our soy candles can smell like anything you need them to.
Be assured that they are all made in small batches by actual humans, not conveyor belts, so the scent stays personal, not processed.
