Too Pretty to Burn? The Truth About Dried Flowers in Soy Candles
At The Scent of Burnout, we love a beautiful candle moment, especially when it is topped with hand-pressed forget-me-nots from our garden or delicate dried rose petals that look like something out of a fairy tale.
These touches aren’t just pretty, they are personal.
That forget-me-not? It was hand-pressed in a flower press made by me, my partner and my daughter back in March. A tiny act of slow living, now part of your candle story.
But let’s talk honestly for a moment.
❗Candle Safety First, Even When Is Gorgeous
As dreamy as those dried petals look, they’re not meant to be burned. We add them for their visual charm, not as part of the flame experience.
Before lighting your candle, simply remove the dried flowers and decorations from the top. They are a moment of calm and beauty before the melt, like a soft introduction to your reset ritual.
Leaving them in can cause:
Uneven burning
Smoke or soot
Fire hazards (and that is not the kind of “burnout” we’re promoting)
💜 A Ritual, Not a Risk
We design our soy candles as a full sensory experience: scent, sight, story.
But safety always comes first so you can enjoy your ritual worry-free.
So go ahead: admire, photograph, inhale deeply... and then gently lift the petals off. They make great bookmarks or vision board extras (just saying).
💡 Conclusion
YES to flower-topped candles 🌸
NO to burning the flowers 🔥
ALWAYS remove the decorations before lighting 🕯️
Because when you light a Scent of Burnout candle, we want it to bring peace, not panic.
